Our region’s proud heritage

Manufacturing is part of the North West’s proud heritage and remains fundamental to the region’s prosperity. A 2018 report claimed that we have 350,000 people working in manufacturing, which is one in 10 of the total workforce. 15,000 new jobs have been created this decade. The report states there are 14,590 manufacturing companies operating locally, accounting for more than 15% of the region’s economy, reinforcing the sector’s significance for jobs and prosperity.

A diverse portfolio

The manufacturing sector has unique commercial, accountancy and tax requirements. Mike specialises in strategic financial planning for this sector, covering engineering and its allied industries. His clients are engaged in a variety of manufacturing and related activities, including tool making, packaging companies, textile processors, steelwork fabricators and electrical engineering firms. He is aware of the range of operational challenges faced by this entire sector and advises on decisions to minimise risk and maximise profits.

With the advent of online accounting, Michael is able to advise on the best software for manufacturing companies. He also delivers bespoke financial advice, to help manufacturing businesses prosper.

Outside his working life, Michael enjoys travelling, walking, cycling and watching a certain Manchester football team.
